Wonder by R.J. Palacio

"My name is August. I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it’s probably worse."

Wonder, this book really has the power to move the hearts and change the minds. When I finally finished reading this book it did bring tears in my eyes. This book is engaging not because of the topic it dealt with but because of the way its written. The best part is the story is written not only by the main character’s perspective but different characters are turned as narrators in different chapters.
It’s a story that asks the readers to find their way to kindness, empathy and love. It is truly an incredible life changing novel. As teachers we come across different set of children each year and some of them are new comers and being humans we can’t really judge what each one of them is thinking. So it becomes really important for us to observe each child’s needs and act accordingly.

It’s a must read for everyone parents, teachers and students…

Two kinds of people

I heard in the movie, 'After the sunset' : The world is divided up between people who like to watch the sunset and those who don't. People who are anxious, type-A, egocentric perfectionists who can't sit still and die alone . The type-B are the people who can relax, enjoy the sunset, hold hands at the end of the day...  They're the happy ones.

I come under the former one. Now, I really don't think that I am unhappy although undoubtedly, I am anxious and most of the time my anxiety doesn't let me relax. However, I see it this way that this anxiety helps me to complete all my tasks and makes me a better human being.
At the end of the day , I feel happy that i have accomplished whatever I wished for.

A bad episode

Somehow this new year didn't begin as usual. For a change I wasn't partying and it made me sad.
But the saddest part was the evening of 1st January'2012, we met with an accident.
It was beautiful and romantic weather and thus in the evening Akshay and I decided to go out for some shopping a to watch a movie. But before we could reach there a scorpio dashed into our car with a thud.
Akshay was on the phone at that time but still it wasn't our fault. We just stopped the car to speak to the guy but this man came marching and tried to take the key of our car.
The way he spoke to Akshay, made me furious, scared and agitated all at the same time.
I actually started crying and tried to contact the police.
I told them where we were and asked them to come immediately. Meanwhile, this guy started asking for money. He didn't have any major damage still he asked for money.
Our car had got dented and the front door couldn't open properly.
We were in the middle of nowhere waiting for the police.
I called them again still there was no sign of any PCR.
We had to take a decision as this guy was harassing us badly. So before the police could come, we gave him Rs. 200 and got rid of him.
We waited for the police to come as i really wanted answers for my pleas.
They didn't say anything, just informed the operators about the scorpio and left.
Probably they would have forgotten the whole episode by now but the sound of the thud/ crash scares me badly and don't know when it will go out of my system.
